In response to a custom request from a client drilling in deep, abrasive formations with fractures and fault zones, JINGWEI engineered a coring solution specifically tailored to the project’s geological conditions.
Conventional core bits had proven ineffective due to excessive heat generation, poor cuttings evacuation, and low core recovery. Based on detailed operating parameters and formation characteristics, JINGWEI developed a bottom-jet hydraulic design that directs drilling fluid upward from the bit base, significantly improving cooling efficiency and debris removal. The crown geometry was further optimized to balance cutting loads and ensure stable coring performance.
As a result, core recovery increased by 35%, bit life was extended by over 40%, and crown temperatures were substantially reduced, confirming reliable performance under complex formation conditions.
